Driver Checker

If your computer or laptop is running slow and you don't know why, you may need to update your device drivers. We spent quite a bit of time online looking for the newest, safest driver downloads for our test machine, and it was incredibly time consuming and frustrating. That is why PC driver updater software like Driver Checker can be extremely helpful. This software can scan your system and provide you with OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) drivers within minutes. This driver updater provided above average scan results and could provide us with our needed Intel, Nvidia and Broadcom drivers. The scan found 20 out of 21 of our outdated drivers and offered new version updates for all of them. We were impressed with this software, but we would like to see them offer more responsive customer support. This driver updater software provides all the functions we specifically looked for and more. Driver Checker has a powerful tool for backing up driver files, and it can keep track of your scan and download history. You can let this software update your drivers all at once or you can select which ones you want to update. It even has a tool for completely uninstalling a bad driver that may be giving you trouble.Scan results list current drivers and suggest new drivers with version numbers and dates. It will also give you provider information and hardware ID numbers. It also has a tool for working with offline computers. It can scan the offline computer’s devices. The hardware information is used to acquire new drivers with an internet connected computer, and then the new drivers can be saved onto a disc or USB drive and uploaded to the computer. This handy tool would be especially useful if you need to update a computer that can only connect via a sluggish dialup connection.Driver Checker found 95 percent of our outdated drivers. The scan only missed one dated Dell driver. It discovered our outdated Intel, Nvidia, Broadcom and SATA controller drivers quickly and easily. The scan also was able to recognize and accurately list our installed drivers, all 63 of them. This is another area that Driver Checker excels; currently they have 1,837,800 driver files in their database for system drivers and peripherals such as printers, USB devices, scanners, cameras and modems. In total, they related that they have drivers for 9000 unique PC devices. They update their driver database with new drivers weekly and their drivers are tested to work with Windows 2000, 2003, XP, Vista and 32- and 64-bit Windows 7.On the Driver Checker website they relate that they acquire their driver files from the original manufacture and they report that their drivers are safe and secure. However, we don't know how they test the driver files to make sure the files do not contain malware and are not corrupted. Their privacy policy does not relate how they transfer files securely, and it doesn't say if they scan files before they load them in their database. Though a third-party installation was not installed when we tested this software, we do not know their policy on third-party software such as optional toolbars. We asked them by email about their security policies, but they never answered our email inquiry.Online Driver Checker posts some helpful FAQs and help files on their website. You can also ask them questions via email. However, we emailed them twice – nine days apart – and never received a response. They didn't even send an automated response to tell us they received our email or that they would answer our questions soon. They do not offer chat or telephone support and do not offer information about the location of the company for postal inquiries. We're always wary of companies that don't offer multiple ways for customers to reach them.
